About me
I’m Martin, a software architect with a background in Java and backend development. Outside work, I’m especially interested in cars, gaming and coffee. I like to understand how things work, and documentaries often take me beyond my hobbies and work, from science and how cities function to the technologies that have shaped humanity.
Gaming
Games have been part of my life since the Nintendo Entertainment System. Zelda, Star Fox, Final Fantasy X and Demon’s Souls are among my favourites.
I first tried Final Fantasy XIV because I thought it might take the place of Guild Wars 1 for me. I enjoyed its world and fell in love with the music; Masayoshi Soken became my favourite composer.
Today, I mainly play for the story and raiding with friends. Many of those friendships began in the game, and both the people I’ve met and the game itself have helped shape who I am.
Music
Synthwave’s gaming influences and ’80s sounds remind me of my childhood and connect the music to my biggest hobby. I like its laid-back atmosphere and find it relaxing. I also listen to microhouse and drum & bass.
Lately, I’ve been listening to Dance with the Dead, Timecop1983, MOLØ and Ninajirachi.
Coffee
Coffee has been part of my routine since university, but in 2025 it became a hobby of its own. Buying an espresso machine led me from classic Italian roasts to brighter, fruitier coffees from around the world.
My current setup pairs a Rocket Mozzafiato Chronometro R with an Option-O LAGOM P80.
I’m still practising latte art.

Photography
Portraits are my favourite kind of photography. I enjoy making people smile and capturing those moments.
I’m also exploring macro photography. It reveals details that are easy to miss and offers a different view of the world.
When I make time to focus on photography, I reach for my Canon 5D Mark III. For everyday moments, it’s usually my iPhone 18 Pro.
Andromeda: A desktop of my own
I started on Windows, moved to the Mac for work, and eventually switched to Linux at home. Today, Linux is my preferred operating system.
My setup is called Andromeda. I enjoy exploring new tools and making the desktop my own; it’s another way to follow my curiosity.
