Technology

My background spans Java development, product analysis and software architecture. When designing software, I want to understand what’s needed and how the existing systems work.

How I approach architecture

I’m responsible for decisions about how software integrates with existing systems and which technologies to use. I document those decisions and work closely with team leads, product owners and product managers.

I like questioning assumptions, comparing alternatives and making ideas tangible. Design studies and prototypes help show how a proposal fits the existing platform, what it could improve and what it might disrupt.

Maintainability, security and straightforward updates matter to me. I consider the people using and maintaining the software, and which parts of an existing system are worth preserving.

Systems in practice

My current work involves self-contained systems running on a Kubernetes-based cloud platform.

In one project, I’m helping modernise an existing core system. We’re moving from custom-built libraries towards established web standards, aiming to improve maintainability and the user experience.

AI in my workflow

AI helps me explore alternatives and turn ideas into something I can evaluate.

I question suggestions and refine the results. Deciding what fits the system remains my responsibility.

My view of AI has changed through using it. I remain concerned about its ethical and environmental impact and its effect on the hardware market.

My background

Games first sparked my interest in software. At university, I learned Java and experimented with a game engine of my own. My work later took me from CMS development to microservices in fintech.

Product and business analysis gave me a closer view of the needs behind the software. In 2023, I moved into architecture to combine that perspective with my development experience and interest in technical design.
